The Penticton Arts Council is proud to present incredible jazz-funk, hip hop, electro band The OM Sound.
The OM Sound is a tight trio merging genres of hip hop, electro, and jazz-funk to create a mesmerizing and groove-heavy sound. Their world travels serve as inspiration for their socially, environmentally, and spiritually conscious message, conveyed through soul stirring lyrics and rich soundscapes, wrapped up with in-the-pocket beats and blow-your-mind bass lines.
With hip hop verses to empower the people, bold harmonies, and creative use of loop pedals, The OM Sound sounds more like a glitch-hop orchestra than a three piece band. Their electro-influenced beat box and synth bass grooves, shredding keyboards, and crunchy guitar licks inspire all as soon as the beats drop.
The OM Sound released their debut album, The Tipping Point, recorded in Melbourne, in 2012. The album was the foundation for their current sound as they strove to bring the electronic hip-hop grooves to life with organic instruments. They are currently in the studio recording their second album, which focuses on new, previously unrecorded R&B and jazz grooves.
After completing their first cross-Canadian tour, they have recently been gigging relentlessly in Montreal and releasing a series of live studio videos online.
With their passion for creation driving them forward, The OM Sound is quickly making a name for themselves in the music world as an unstoppable force.
Opening is a new local act featuring the talents of Jessica Singleton, Dylan Knippelberg, Sarai Gardner, Pascale d'Aoust, Adam Gamblen and Kadin Bergen. They form a combination from everything jazz to the soulful sounds of motown. There is assured to have something for everyone.
